Team Introduction:

• The Global Finance – Insurance and Business Risk team facilitates the insurance process globally for ByteDance and its various businesses. Our mission is to enhance business units' competitive edge by providing expert risk analysis, mitigation strategies, and structured insurance programmes that allow them to operate in a risk-appropriate manner.


• The Senior Risk Manager will manage APAC-focused insurance procurement, lead claims management and property engineering across the region, and coordinate captive insurance operations to support business objectives and unique risk mitigation strategies.

Position Summary

• We are seeking a strategic, highly accountable Senior Risk Manager, Insurance & Business Risk to join our Insurance and Business Risk team in Singapore.


• You will be responsible for managing insurance procurement and claims across the APAC region (including China), coordinating captive insurance vehicles, and leading property engineering programmes in SEA. This role partners with internal stakeholders including Legal, HR, Security, Data, and Real Estate, as well as external insurers and brokers, to design and maintain cost-effective risk transfer structures aligned with regulatory and contractual obligations. The role requires regular engagement with senior decision-makers and company executives.

Responsibilities:

• Manage cross-functional relationships with business partners across TikTok, TikTok Shop, and other international business units to understand their risk exposures and co-develop tailored insurance solutions.


• Coordinate internal and external risk management resources — including insurers, brokers, and third-party service providers — to optimize cost and drive operational efficiencies.


• Structure and maintain risk transfer vehicles (including captive insurance programmes) in compliance with regulatory and contractual obligations; lead efforts to evaluate and develop captive vehicles and alternative risk mitigation mechanisms.


• Coordinate captive insurance policies for the APAC region (including China) to support business objectives and region-specific risk mitigation strategies.


• Develop and implement standardized claim reporting SOPs with key stakeholders in China and SEA.


• Manage property and casualty claims for the APAC region; partner with local loss adjusters and insurers to drive timely claim resolution.


• Lead the property engineering programme across the SEA region, including site surveys and risk improvement recommendations.


• Build reporting and analytics frameworks to provide visibility on total cost of risk and support data-driven decision-making.


• Collaborate with the broader Risk Management team (Enterprise Risk Management, Business Resiliency, Security, Program Management) to deliver team-wide OKRs.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Actuarial Science or Engineering.


• 15+ years of progressive experience in corporate risk management and insurance procurement, including at least 5 years in a leadership or senior advisory capacity within the APAC region.


• Experience in the technology or internet industry managing insurance programmes for digital platforms, e-commerce, or data centres.


• Demonstrated experience managing or coordinating with captive insurance vehicles, including policy structuring and claims coordination.


• Proven track record managing property and casualty insurance claims with insurers, brokers, and internal business partners across multiple APAC jurisdictions, including leading property engineering or risk improvement programmes in the SEA region.


• Business-level Mandarin proficiency is required given the role involves frequent communication with Chinese stakeholders based in Chinese-speaking markets in the APAC region, including China.


• Willingness to travel internationally (up to 20%) for site visits, broker meetings, and business partner engagement.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional certifications such as PMP are preferred.


• Experience with insurance programme analytics and total cost of risk reporting.
