Job Summary

The Production and Curatorial Specialist will provide key production and curatorial support to the Moving Image and Emerging Media team at ArtScience Museum, with a focus on film programmes at ArtScience Cinema and the programming and production of the VR Gallery within the museum. The role supports the planning, coordination, technical delivery and evaluation of cinema programmes, film festivals and immersive Mixed Reality presentations, contributing to the Museum's mandate to explore the dynamic intersections of art, science, culture and technology through moving image and digital media.

The Production and Curatorial Specialist will assist in the end-to-end delivery of film and Virtual Reality programmes, working closely with curators, technical teams, Visitor Experience, digital and e-commerce teams, as well as external artists, distributors, licensors and partners. This position will require attention to detail, technical awareness and strong coordination skills, and will involve working on some evenings, weekends and Public Holidays, with flexibility in hours to accommodate programme requirements.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support the planning, scheduling, production and delivery of film programmes at ArtScience Cinema, including regular screenings, curated seasons and film festivals.
  • Support the programming, production and operational delivery of the VR Gallery, including testing, installation, daily operation and de-installation of VR artworks and immersive media works.
  • Assist with organisation and maintenance of digital assets and files.
  • Develop and manage screening schedules, production timelines and operational checklists for cinema and VR programmes.
  • Conduct testing, quality control and troubleshooting of film files (including DCPs and other exhibition formats) and VR artworks.
  • Populate, maintain and update film and programme information across relevant digital platforms, including the museum website and ticketing systems.
  • Liaise with the e-commerce and digital teams on website uploads, ticketing products and content updates.
  • Work cross-departmentally with Visitor Experience, Technical Services, Facilities, Security, Marketing and Communications.
  • Support film festival and special programme production, including artist and hospitality management, coordination of schedules, print traffic, front-of-housend on-site operations.
  • Assist with licensing, rights management and artwork or film loans.
  • Track equipment maintenance, technical readiness and inventory for cinema and VR operations.
  • Assist with visitation tracking and reporting for cinema and VR programmes.
  • Maintain organised records of programme documentation, content files and correspondence.
  • Support other moving image and public programme initiatives as assigned.


Job Requirements

Education & Certification

  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in arts management, film, media studies or a related discipline.

Experience

  • Minimum two years of experience in the museum, arts and/or cultural sector programming for a range of audience, preferebly in the cinema/film industry

Other Prerequisites

  • Working knowledge of cinema operations, including DCP management and audiovisual troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with VR or immersive media workflows is an advantage.
  • Highly motivated, independent and organised, with the ability to manage multiple projects with competing schedules and handle a range of responsibilities with excellent attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates resilience and adaptability in responding to new ways of working or applying problem-solving skills.
  • Able to use good judgment and discretion and maintain a calm demeanor whilst working in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment, especially during live programming and education.
  • Positive team player, able to work effectively and harmoniously with diverse teams.
  • A confident communicator with excellent written and spoken English (an additional / second language would be an advantage) who is able to manage a variety of internal and external relationships and interactions.
  • Understanding of budget management processes and experience in implementing programming evaluation.
  • Competent in computer systems, word processing, spreadsheet and data management programmes. Knowledge of photo and video editing software is a plus.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and Public Holidays when required (with time off in lieu).
