Merchandising & Store Experience Manager (Retail)

The Role: Retail Category & Experience Lead

We are seeking a retail specialist—ideally from a supermarket or multi-store background—who views a convenience store as a high-performance retail space. You will be the primary driver of our "C-Store First" strategy, leveraging data analytics and digital tools to optimize merchandising logic, private label growth, and strategic alliances.

Key Responsibilities

1. Merchandising & Store Experience Leadership

• Analytical Merchandising: Own the product portfolio across our network. You will use data-driven insights to optimize SKU performance, ensuring high-demand and high-margin products are always prioritized in "Golden Zone" shelf placements.

• Store Design & Layout: Act as the architect of the customer journey. You will design and implement planograms that optimize traffic flow, improve visual merchandising, and maximize sales conversion per square foot.

• Market Intelligence: Initiate market research by gathering current market information on customer insights, competitor analysis, and new product segments. Analyse these findings to identify growth opportunities.

2. House Brand Growth & Monthly Promotions

• Premium Private Label Development: Drive the expansion and localization of our house brands, including our premium Water, Wine, and lifestyle products. You will manage the commercial pipeline from sourcing to shelf.

• Monthly Promotional Engine: Lead our signature monthly promotion programs. You will design campaign themes, coordinate with vendors for exclusive offers, and ensure consistent execution across all stations. You will be responsible for the end-to-end execution of effective marketing campaigns and high-impact promotional events.

3. External Alliances & Partner Management

• Commercial Alliances: Lead the commercial relationship with all 3rd-party partners on-site, including Car Wash services, Car Workshops, and other external service providers. Monitor performance to ensure they align with Sinopec’s premium service standards.

• Quality & Brand Alignment: Monitor the performance of external partners to ensure they contribute to a seamless customer experience.

• Regulatory Compliance: Manage new industry mandates and environmental sustainability programs (e.g., recycling/return schemes) to ensure 100% operational compliance.

4. Operational Integrity & Efficiency

• Process Review: Constantly review operational processes and execute necessary controls to improve and support the efficiency of the store.

• Operational Excellence: Maintain a "High-Standard" retail culture. You will proactively identify and resolve operational bottlenecks to ensure a premium shopping environment for our customers.

• Other ad-hoc duties as assigned by The Management.

Requirements

• Professional Experience: 3–5 years in Category Management or Merchandising. Strong preference for candidates from supermarket chains or large-scale multi-site retailers.

• Language Proficiency: Excellent written and spoken Chinese (Mandarin) and English are required. This is essential for effective coordination with our regional headquarters and for managing relationships.

• Data & Digital Mindset: This is a core competency. You must be a "Power User" of data tools (advanced Excel/Sheets) and demonstrate a strong ability to leverage AI tools to automate reporting, draft marketing content, and optimize workflows.

• Execution Rigor: A high-standard mindset with a strong sense of urgency. You are someone who delivers results on schedule and manages project timelines with 100% accuracy.

• The "Retail Eye": You have an innate ability to walk into a store and immediately spot opportunities to improve the layout, fix a display issue, or enhance the customer experience.
