The Head of International VM & Experience leads the development, implementation, and oversight of all visual merchandising strategies & implementations across international markets and channels (Retail & Wholesale). This role ensures global alignment, elevates brand consistency, strengthens market execution, and drives the evolution of capabilities, tools, and training across diverse retail environments.
In this role, the Head of International VM & Experience will lead and oversee all VM/VE directives for international markets across Retail (Full Price & Outlet) and Wholesale, including for our Distributor partners. He/she will ensure alignment with global brand direction and consistency in execution across all regions. He/she will also partner cross-functionally with Global VM/VE, Marketing, Merchandising, and Store Design to adapt, refine, and cascade global tools and frameworks for regional needs and will support any strategic initiatives that arise, including global innovation pilots.
Key Responsibilities
1. Guidelines & Seasonal Direction
- Own the development and adaptation of Global seasonal guidelines, including launch zones, in-store merchandising, windows, and retail campaigns.
- Develop seasonal planograms for T1directly owned markets and provide seasonal planogram benchmarks for T2 directly owned markets as well as distributor partners.
- Consolidate seasonal asset briefs for all regions, including partnership/collaboration needs
- Share POS asset toolkits and manage usage across all markets, including Distributor and Wholesale partners.
- Lead the creation and evolution of foundational VE/VM principles (e.g., EOSS strategy, Accessories & Jibbitz guidelines, Principles Guide, EXP approach, etc.), in partnership with Global VM.
- Partner with Marketing to clearly differentiate roles & responsibilities for Retail Marketing & Visual Experience for launch zones and campaign components.
- Provide planogram-level support for T1Markets, for both Full Price & Outlet stores.
- Manage resizing and production requests for creative VM assets.
2. Implementation & Support
- Review and approve all VE/VM plans developed by the markets for retail stores as well as for kiosks and SIS.
- Collaborate with global team on development of wholesale fixtures.
- Oversee key store openings (virtual / in-person), ensuring adherence to global standards.
- Provide POS proposals, artwork development, fixture ordering support, and other general support as required.
- Conduct monthly analysis of local VM execution through photo report reviews and improvement plans.
- Guide teams (Owned & Distributor markets) on mapping, planograms, segmentation, and assortments.
- Create and manage a centralized International VM hub for all guidelines, tools, and resources.
- Ensure timely distribution and communication of all VM materials to regional/local partners.
- Monitor regional adherence, identify training needs, and drive continuous improvement.
- Maintain internal standards, i.e. Internal Showrooms, B2B Trade Shows, etc.
- Collaborate with Retail teams and Global Store Design on adherence, compliance and identifying new development needs based on evolution in assortments and strategic business priorities.
3. Training & Talent Development
- Develop and manage the International VM Champion program and the VM E-Learning‑ curriculum.
- Host recurring virtual learning sessions aligned to seasonal guidelines for owned markets, key distributors, and GAP accounts.
- Create and manage VM talent onboarding standards across regions.
- Drive two-way feedback loops between shop floors and head office teams to solve merchandising challenges and elevate execution quality.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in Visual Merchandising, including significant international market exposure.
- Proven leadership with management of multi-region VM teams and Distributor/Wholesale models.
- Strong understanding of store design, retail operations, fixtures, and consumer behavior across varied markets.
- Experience developing scalable VM guidelines, training programs, and seasonal toolkits.
- Strong communication, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Strong stakeholder management skills & strong cross-cultural sensibilities.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
