Tommy is a multi award-winning global creative and production studio, and we’re on the lookout for a mid-level Creative Strategist. Sometimes we make ads, but a lot of times we create experiences that don’t look like ads.
We’ve dropped influencers 600 feet in the air, taken over the Kuala Lumpur tower, and we even let Twitch hijack a plane full of vampires. But enough about us, let’s talk about you.
You might be a strategist disillusioned with how the role of a strategist has come to be perceived - a framework factory of boxes and circles, the blindingly obvious creative brief, and yes, the “boring” section before the creative ideas are presented, Here at Tommy, our strategists have one simple goal - to be the most helpful person in the agency.
RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Creative Strategist for Tommy, you will be responsible for creative ideation, strategic development and ongoing management of comprehensive marketing campaigns for brands like Google, Netflix, Amazon, HBO Max, Mastercard & YouTube. This role requires equal measures of strong creative instincts, articulation (written and verbal) as well as the business acumen to deliver a strategy that is best-in-class.
Daily, you will be expected to:
- Interpret a client brief and understand the intricacies of their business objectives and social objectives, ultimately becoming an expert on their goals
- Communicate insight from brands, audience, culture and category to develop innovative strategies to support campaign initiatives with focus on storytelling, influencers and audience engagement
- Manage strategy and creative thinking in response to a brief. Collaborate with functions across the agency to ideate
- Become the voice of the customer - through rigorous research and even on-the-ground interviews
- Be the brand and creative lead on pitching the ideas to clients and secure the business. Continue to be the face of creative implementation with the client once the strategy is signed off
SKILLS
We will be looking for an individual who:
- Has a proven track record of building world-class strategy -- launching global campaigns that connect consumers to entertainment brands and creating a passionate following.
- Has deep knowledge of running a creative campaign, from strategy development to tactical creative execution.
- Knows how to successfully articulate creative strategy and present creative campaigns to marketing functions in entertainment clients & brands.
- Is a partner for clients and keep them up-to-date with the latest tech/social/digital trends and how these impact consumer and brand
- Make meaning from mess - you are the expert at becoming the expert, on any brand that comes in whether it’s baby formula or Web3, and simplifying those brands for internal understanding
- Is a proactive self-starter, who does not need to be told what to do and will be a resourceful problem solver. You get your hands dirty and wear multiple hats.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- 2-3+ years of strategy marketing experience at an agency, studio, network, or other media-focused company
- Experience in creative across all channels that drives buzz, creates narrative, and builds communities. Regional experience is a plus
- Experience developing strategically grounded, insight-driven, creative applied in mobile, digital and offline mediums
- Excellent communication, writing, project management, presentation, cross-functional collaboration and relationship building skills are critical
- Ability to synthesise strategic goals, assess creative options, and make informed decisions about what path to take. Willingness to take risks and pivot as needs change
- Very strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
